Welcome to the Maine Network of Healthy Communities

Healthy Futures Preschool Group |
Our Mission: "The Network" is a statewide network (click here for a map) of community coalitions working to enhance physical, social, emotional, environmental and economic health in Maine.
Our Vision: All of Maine's communities enjoy a sense of health that includes limited disease, as well as optimal physical, mental, social, emotional, environmental, and economic well-being. People living and working in Maine are healthy, not just because of access to appropriate medical services, but also because of neighborhood vitality, satisfying employment, safe environments, and diverse recreational, educational and cultural opportunities.
We work at both the local and statewide levels to improve Maine's health and quality of life through promoting public policy changes, ensuring that needed data on community health is collected, developing training and capacity building opportunities for healthy community coalitions, and communicating the importance of working collaboratively toward a better public health system.
In 2003 the MNHC membership selected a set of indicators many of their membership are currently collecting and reporting to their communities and their funders. These indicators fall into 5 categories. These are:
- Sector Involvement
- Civic Engagement
- Community Change Leadership
- Community Change Partnerships
- Scope of Work
